Over the years, many park owners and operators have utilized the cost-effective option of hiring "temporary workers" to help with various jobs around their park. These jobs often include maintenance and landscaping work and/or assisting with general management of the park. Hiring workers on a temporary basis, however, can also result in an array of legal troubles. Questions arise whether the person hired is an employee or independent contractor, if an employment contract is required, if the wage and hour laws are being complied with, whether there is workers' compensation available in the event of an injury, and if the worker can be compensated with free housing in lieu of wages. Other issues arise concerning adequate insurance and how the park may evict a resident who also worked for the park. Watch insurance specialist Damian Petty and RV park attorney Dan Rudderow in this informative, 45-minute webinar hosted by CampCalNOW that addresses all of these issues and more.
